BTA Player of November

For the player of the month of November our team has decided to pick Elijah representing the value of self-improvement.

When Elijah turned 7 years old, he was diagnosed with a cognitive processing delay. This has affected his learning at school and wider areas of life. However, Elijah has a strong drive to overcome this hindrance, which is what we see in his tennis. For Elijah, focus is a challenge, and even though tennis demands it from him on a daily basis, he rises to that challenge. He has to train and remind himself to be present when on the court. It's exhausting for him, but he's shown to himself that he can keep his eye on every ball and, therefore, grow and develop as a player and a person.

Through his love of the sport and his persistence in training, what he's learnt on the practice court has had a huge impact on how he sees himself and what he believes he can achieve in life. We are proud of Elijah’s everyday efforts. And we are so glad that tennis is so much more than a sport. In this case it is Elijah's tool to train his focus on and off the court.

Last but not least, the academy would like to thank Elijah's parents not only for their tremendous involvement in Elijah's progress but also in our academy life in general contributing to the group climate. We can’t wait for the coronavirus to end so that we can celebrate another edition of BTA table tennis tournament in Elijah's house.
