BTA Player of May

Every month our team picks out a player with the most outstanding attitude. For the month of May our standout BTA player is Viswa, a 15-year-old tennis player from India.

Here’s how the coaches explained their choice:

‘This month we worked on aspects of personal growth, self-knowledge, and relationships with others. One of the relevant aspects to talk about was bullying and the skills of interacting with our teammates, school, training, friends ... One of our most charismatic players Viswa surprised us by explaining that his shyness and difficulty speaking English made things very difficult for him when he arrived at the academy. At the start, he did not find satisfactory relationships that he would have wanted with his teammates in that time of difficulty when you leave friends and family behind to fulfil your dream of playing tennis, which is what so many champions have gone through. Since those days, Viswa has not only improved his drive, backhand, serve and volley, but, especially, in his way of relating to people, being a fun, sociable, good guy, a companion who gets along well with everyone. Viswa was very brave explaining to the group all the difficulties he experienced when he arrived at the academy, with his shyness and language difficulties. It was very educational for the rest of the players to listen how such a charismatic player needed to adjust and transform his personality during that hard time. " Oriol Mercade, BTA sports psychologist

“Viswa - ejemplo de implicacion, actitud y trabajo, experimento un crecimiento personal en varios aspectos..... las ganas de aprender y mejorar han sido sus palancas de crecimiento en el aspecto fisico, mostrando un afan de mejora dia a dia y conseguido grandes evoluciones en sus cualidades fisicas. Felicidades!”

“Viswa - an example of dedication, attitude and effort. He has shown growth in multiple aspects. His willingness to learn and improve on a day-to-day basis have been the reason for his tremendous progress in terms of his fitness and physical conditioning. Congratulations!”
