BTA Players: Mahin, Ekua and Niki

Every month we will be introducing to you profiles of our annual players.

The first blog of this series features Mahin Qureshi, a 21-year-old player from Pakistan, the 17-year-old Ekua Youri, originally from Botswana, and Nikoletta Muller, a 23-year-old player from Hungary.

All three girls travel together to tournaments, both ITF events as well as local Federation tournaments.

Before they trained with us in Sitges as part of the same training group, now they are back in our Castelldefels branch, with Mahin and Ekua living here with host families.

Mahin first visited our academy in 2012, when we were based in Vallpineda, a tennis club next to Sitges and together with her sister Alina kept visiting us for our monthly programmes. After struggling with a serious injury, last year Mahin was able to join our team of annual players, and since then she has been working extremely hard to improve and get back to competing. Mahin has played in the Pakistan’s Fed Cup team, which is a great accomplishment.

Her favourite player is Rafael Nadal. She loves photography.

Ekua has been training with us since 2019, making great progress in every aspect of her game. She travels to tennis tournaments all around the world representing Botswana. Ekua has won the U16 African Championships in Tunisia, which is an amazing accomplishment.

In addition to her busy training and tournament schedule, Ekua is involved in her online studies. Juggling full-time tennis training with school is a great challenge, and she has been managing it all really great.

Her favourite player is Serena Williams. In her free time she likes listening to music.

Niki joined our Sitges training group back in 2021, now training with the rest of our annual players in our Castelldefels branch, where we run all our annual training programmes. Niki has already a university degree, sport psychology being one of the subjects she chose to study. Psychology is one of her greatest interests; she applies all her knowledge to her own self-work on the court.

Her favourite player is Nick Kyrgios. Her hobbies are playing the piano and boxing.

We are very happy to have them at our academy.
