BTA Preseason: Part Two

This year’s preseason at our tennis academy lasted 5 weeks. On the whole, preseasons are this time of the year, during which physical conditioning takes priority and the load of tennis sessions is reduced in comparison with normal training routine. This is the time when players physically gear up for tournaments.

Our fitness team  used an integrated approach to conditioning and skill-based work, starting with strength building and finishing off with more emphasis on on-court coordination and agility tasks. The training blocks mostly consisted of

  • strength training

  • resistance training (anaerobic, aerobic and mixed tasks)

Such a set-up significantly impacts on physical performance in tennis, preparing players for the tournament season, which began for us last week with a great win of our annual player Ekua Youri in a Federation tournament.
